Welcome to the World of Charlie Parr
by Cat Johnson
Every once in a while, an artist sneaks up on you and quickly finds their way into your heart. Such is the case with Charlie Parr. Last week, I didn’t know his music, this week, he’s one of my favorite artists and I’m looking forward to seeing him live at the Crepe Place on October 1.
Part of Parr’s appeal is the same reason he’s slipped through my radar until now: he’s quiet, humble, and more focused on the music than on becoming famous.
I could tell you that Parr plays the country blues like a master, and sings with so much heart and feel that it makes your eyes well up, but I’d rather have you give Parr a listen and come to your own conclusion.
If Parr is your thing, and you’re ready to dig into his music, Stumpjumper is a great place to start.
