Doolittle

by Cat Johnson

First off, is anyone else freaking out just a little bit that Doolittle was released 25 years ago?

Ok, I just had to get that out of the way.

A classic of 1980s underground rock, the Pixies’ second album was a pop-friendly, accessible change from Surfer Rosa, the band’s debut full-length release. Doolittle was an immediate hit with both fans and critics.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary, the Pixies released expanded editions of both the CD and vinyl, packed with goodies including B-sides, Peel Sessions and demos; about half of which have never been previously released.

Whether you count this album as one of your favorites, you want to delve deeper into Pixies-land, or you just want to re-familiarize yourself with a classic album, this expanded edition is a great excuse to give Doolittle a spin.
