Reviewed: JJ Doom – Key to the Kuffs

Key to the Kuffs features the exquisite pairing of MF Doom and Jneiro Jarel (aka Dr. Who Dat?) taking the listener on a beat odd-yssey through familiar Doom-style ground (i.e. chopped up, storytelling, sci-fi samples) but it also showcases Doom’s party-rockin’ ability on two club-friendlier tracks.

JJ’s tight production adds a new element to Doom’s voice; somewhat reminiscent of his work with Madlib. All in all, it’s a wonderful experience that gets better with each listen. Try listening to “Winter Blues” without getting the warm fuzzies. I dare you.
