Aretha to Grace the Screen. Finally.

If you haven’t heard Aretha sing gospel, you haven’t heard Aretha. In 1972, she was at the top of her game, stringing together hit, after hit, after hit. That was also the year that she played a 2 night gig in her father’s church, recording what would become the best-selling gospel album of all time.
Director Sydney Pollack filmed the whole thing, but the film was never finished and the footage never available. Until now. With a release date sometime this year, we’re going to be able to see the creation of Amazing Grace in all its hand-clapping, spirit-moving, Aretha’s-taking-over glory.
